Students of the Month

Each month during the school year the Bartlesville Rotary Club hosts two outstanding high school students at each of the club’s meetings.  Meredith LeMaster, youth service chair, introduces the students with a brief biographical presentation at the first meeting of the month, and the students themselves speak to the club about their Rotary experience, school activities and career goals at the last meeting of the month.

At the end of the school year, one Student of the Month is selected by the club to receive a $1000 college scholarship.

The Rotary Students of the Month for April 2010 are Catie George and Kylan Durant.

Catie is the daughter of Kenny & Anne George. She is a member of the National Honor Society and BHS high honor roll. A dance student for 13 years, Catie has been captain of the freshman, JV and varsity pom squads. During her sophomore year, she was secretary of the Spanish Club.

Kylan is the son of Crystal Larmore. A member of National Honor Society, Kylan is active in both the BHS choir and drama organizations. He studies dance, voice and piano with private instructors and participates in the First Baptist Church choir and youth musical theater. He also is a representative on the BHS choir council.

The Rotary students of the month – both seniors and juniors are eligible – are chosen by a committee of BHS teachers. The students should be of high moral character, have initiative, show leadership capabilities, be good students, and be active and interested in their school and community. One boy and one girl are selected each month from September through May.
