Students of the Month
Each month during the school year the Bartlesville Rotary Club hosts two outstanding high school students at each of the club’s meetings. Meredith LeMaster, youth service chair, introduces the students with a brief biographical presentation at the first meeting of the month, and the students themselves speak to the club about their Rotary experience, school activities and career goals at the last meeting of the month.
At the end of the school year, one Student of the Month is selected by the club to receive a $1000 college scholarship.
The Rotary Students of the Month for March 2010 are
Emily Mueller and
Thomas Bridges.
Emily is the daughter of Kevan & Jody Mueller.
She serves on the BHS Student Council and is a member of National
Honor Society. A
participant in a variety of sports, Emily is a member of the BHS
Varsity Basketball team, the Doenges Ford Indian Girls and the
Eclipse Club Volleyball squad. She has played the piano for eight
years and plays cello in the BHS Orchestra. She is part of the Youth
Choir at First Wesleyan Church.
Thomas Bridges, the son of
Jon & Misty Bridges, is National
Honor Society member, a BHS Student Council representative and a
Spanish Club member. An
honor roll student, Thomas has served as a page for Rep. Earl Sears
in 2009 and Sen. John Ford in 2010.
Thomas is a member of Disciplines Christian Church. He is
employed part-time at Food Pyramid.
The Rotary students of the month – both
seniors and juniors are eligible – are chosen by a committee of BHS
teachers. The students should be of high moral character, have
initiative, show leadership capabilities, be good students, and be
active and interested in their school and community. One boy and one
girl are selected each month from September through May.
